183d Wing Receives New Commander
ABRAHAM LINCOLN CAPITAL AIRPORT -- Col. Robert C. Gellner assumed command of the 183d Wing, during an assumption of command ceremony held today at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport. The assumption of command ceremony is a military tradition deeply rooted in history and dates back to the time of Frederick the Great of Prussia. The formal assumption of command ceremony affords troops the opportunity to witness a new leader assuming their dutiful position.
Gellner comes to the 183d from Joint Base Pearl Harbor - Hickam, Hawaii, where he was the commander of the 154th Maintenance Group. He is the 12th commander of the Wing, whose history dates back to 1948.
