Engineers from the civilian aircraft industry visited the 183d Maintenance Squadron Centralized Repair Facility (CRF), in order to demonstrate technology that may aid in streamlining the process of aligning the gearbox and the airframe mounted accessory drive (AMAD) on the F-118 aircraft engine.

The engineers demonstrated portable coordinate measuring arm technology that could aid the CRF in a number of other tasks as well, including 3D inspections, tool certifications, CAD comparison, dimensional analysis, and reverse engineering.

The CRF provides major maintenance and repair for General Electric F110-GE-100, F110-GE-129, TF34, and F-118 aircraft engines.
