ABRAHAM LINCOLN CAPITAL AIRPORT, SPRINGFIELD, IL --
Col Shawn Strahle has been selected as new commander of the 183d Wing.
Col Strahle joined the 183d in 2003, as the Communications Flight Executive Officer. He would go on to serve in many capacities in the 183d Wing; 183d Communications Flight Commander, 183d Air Communications Squadron Director of Operations, 183d Air Communications Flight Commander, 217th Engineering Installation Squadron Commander, and 183d Wing Deputy Commander. Col Strahle also served as J/G/A6 Communications Director for Illinois National Guard Joint Force Headquarters.
Strahle will replace outgoing commander Col Robert Gellner, who has been selected as Vice Commander of the 603rd Air and Space Operations Center.
Col Strahle has the leadership and the experience to bring the 183rd Wing into the modern era of great power competition. He will assume command of the 183d Wing on or about June 3.
