Lieutenant Colonel John W. Moyer

Lt Col John W. Moyer is the Deputy Commander for the 183d Mission Support Group at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport Springfield, IL. He assists in leading a diverse group of 400 professionals across six squadrons providing agile combat support for the 183d Wing. Further, he is responsible for the maintenance, sustainment and security of base infrastructure and assets valued at over $500 million. The group of engineering and emergency response, security and defense forces, communications, force support, logistics readiness, and contracting personnel provide a full-spectrum base operating support for over 950 airmen.

Lt Col Moyer entered Basic Military Training School at Lackland AFB, TX in January of 1995. He served as an enlisted airmen in Civil Engineer Squadron and Comptroller Flight. Lt Col Moyer was commissioned through the Academy of Military Science at McGee Tyson Air National Guard Base in 2009. He has deployed twice, served on an operational staff within an Air Operations Group and commanded three squadrons.
