Lieutenant Colonel John W. Moyer

Lt Col John Moyer is the Maintenance Squadron Commander for the 183d Wing, Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport, Springfield, IL. He is responsible for the command, control and operations of plans and programs effecting more than 120 civilian and military maintainers. His broad range of responsibilities includes the oversight and execution of jet engine intermediate maintenance actions for four different weapons systems.

Lt Col Moyer entered the United States Air Force in November 1994 and served as a Liquid Fuels Systems Technician with the 183d Civil Engineering Squadron. In August 2006, he cross-trained into the Comptroller Flight within the 183d Wing Headquarters. In 2008, he deployed in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM to Al Udeid AB, Qatar. Maj Moyer obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 2008 and Master’s Degree in Public Administration in 2012, both from the University of Illinois.  Maj Moyer received his commission at the Academy of Military Science, McGee Tyson ANGB.  As a commissioned officer, Major Moyer has been assigned to various positions within the 183d Air Operations Group and 183d Mission Support Group.  He has previously held command positions with the 183d Logistics Readiness Squadron and the 183d Force Support Squadron.
